Benevolent Man Lyrics — Harry Connick Jr.

I saw him on the corner on the east side
Walking in the street for a free ride
Mm hmm

I could see he'd seen a lot of bad time
So I asked him then if he had time
Mm hmm

Am I an irrelevant man
I do the best that I can
Am I a benevolent man
I do the best that I can

My eyes have been on the horizon
Something steady I can keep my eyes on
Mm hmm
I don't wanna go back to the east side
Even if I knew I had a free ride
Mm hmm

Am I an irrelevant man
I do the best that I can
Am I a benevolent man
I do the best that I can

I have an interesting
Relationship with time
It's always running out
Just when I hit my prime
Sounds like the same old tune
But now I swear that I'm
Ready for a song
Where the lyrics finally rhyme

Am I an irrelevant man
I do the best that I can
Am I a benevolent man
I do the best that I can
