Story
Lisa is a Thai Rapper, Singer, and Dancer who debuted as an individual artist under the South Korean management agency YG Entertainment. A multilingual artist, she speaks Thai in addition to Korean, English, Chinese, and Japanese. LALISA brings out the best of Lisa, who will soar as a soloist after being held back in BLACKPINK for too long. The 27-year-old Blackpink singer, has released a new single titled "Rockstar," which showcases her confidence and uniqueness. The track, which is thumping and futuristic, is a nod to her 2021 debut album Lalisa and her multilingual skills. The opening lyrics brag about her rockstar status, while the song also references her home country, Bangkok, where she filmed the tune's visual. The video showcases her masterful choreography and an array of outfits, including a star-shaped crop top and an intergalactic long-sleeve with baggy pants. The song also pays tribute to high fashion, with the singer rapping about wearing a tight dress to a fashion show celebrating Nicolas Ghesquière's 10th year at the house. Despite the braggadocio and status, the song also references Blackpink, evoking "Kill This Love" as she warns, "They call me catch and kill." Lisa has yet to announce a follow-up to the daring single, but the self-referential lyrics suggest she has not forgotten her roots as she reaches legend status.Song Annotations
- Everyone Knows the Title Line: The opening line directly addresses BLACKPINK's enormous non K-pop fan audience thanks in part to her rap flow, a phenomenon known as "the LISA effect." A lot of people who watched their Coachella performance last year were wondering about her, calling her the "ponytail rapper."
- Lala, Lisa Levels: A Literal Play On Her Full Name (Lalisa) Wondering to change the name as per suggestion from an Astrologer, because thought that this would turn her fortunes or so believed when pass and went for audition of BLACKPINK.
- The Japanese Question: Shows off Lisa's language skills. Able to fluidly communicate in various languages and had an audience dance at the Japanese stadiums. Hai (はい) means "Yes" in Japanese.
Explanation with Annotations
As for the chorus of Rockstar, it portrays Lisa as a confident and powerful personality who dials up her rock-n-roll persona. A reference to gold teeth, making singers want to rap highlights how she was not only a standout of her time but an innovator. Her multilingual abilities are emphasized by the clear choice of teaching Japanese. Through the pre-chorus, Lisa reveals that she is about her business just like an agent and all of this as though comparing her life to a mission much more exciting akin to being a gem thief who catches everyone off guard. This reflects her adventurous and vibrant character always craving excitement and challenges. Making mention of a number of cities indicates her presence and success on a global scale. Then the verse takes a more once-again personal perspective where Lisa invites someone to join her adventurous living style. The lifestyle she describes is fast-paced, the luxuriant brands like Louis Vuitton indicate her wealth and high social standing. Her lyrics explore themes of liberation and impulsivity - typical music to fit her rock star image. The post-chorus re-establishes her as a rockstar, pushing off any haters coming for the success she sometimes gets reduced to performance instead of hype. Rather, she claims that her power and presence are authentic enough to inspire those around her.Personal Reflection
The song Rockstar by LISA is an energetic anthem celebrating the journey and success of her career. She rises from the rubble in the song sounding brusque and bold-eyed but sporting infectious lyrics to show that despite all she has been through, Cardi B is still confident. However, the multicultural references and multilingual lyrics remind you of her global appeal as well as versatility. This-more than simply sort of a literal and metaphorical depiction with the rockstar Lisa embodies through her music but in addition as how she represents herself-with the fearless, independent spirit. The song encompasses themes of wealth, power, and confidence in characterizing Lisa who becomes an icon unto herself. The song is just as uplifting and vibrant, while drawing from a similar up-tempo style to Bates' similarly-bright personality; the kind of anthem that one can take away with them on their path towards success. With Rockstar, Lisa lets fans into her universe where she loves living large and happily shows off what makes her special.Rockstar by LISA (LALISA)
Make your favorite singer wanna rap, baby, la, la
"Lisa, can you teach me Japanese?" I said「はい、はい」
That's my life, life, baby, I'm a rockstar
[Pre-Chorus]
Been on a mission, boy, they call me catch-and-kill
I'm stealin' diamonds, make them chase me for the thrill
Been MIA, BKK so pretty
Every city that I go is my city
[Chorus]
Gold teeth sittin' on the dash, she a rockstar
Make your favorite singer wanna rap, baby, la, la
"Lisa, can you teach me Japanese?" I said「はい、はい」
That's my life, life, baby, I'm a rockstar
[Post-Chorus]
I'm a rockstar, I'm a rockstar
It's not hype, hype, baby, make you rock-hard
[Verse]
Make a wish, babe, what you wanna do?
Dippin' outta big cities like a ponzu

Tight dress, LV sent it
Oh sh*t, Lisa reppin'
[Pre-Chorus]
Been on a mission, boy, they call me catch-and-kill
I'm stealin' diamonds, make them chase me for the thrill
