The more you don’t know what to expect from the film before its release – the greater the chances of its commercial success. For example, The Avengers – little advertising, many of action and the box offices of each film reach up to USD 1 billion. But film something incredibly boring with jazz (Mullenium) or blues accompaniment (That's The Chance You Take), add very filigree and incredibly tedious actors like Cate Blanchett, give the film a bunch of reviews from the wearisome critics – and you will get something like this film. With a budget of almost USD 12 million, its box office is USD 3 million after more than three weeks of release. Add here the participation of the film in Cannes for more than 6 months before its official release and you’ll get some monster – humdrum motion picture, which critics loved very much, which has a huge pile of awards and nominations. But all the viewers were disoriented – for whom to shoot such a film, strikingly soggy, blah and uninspired? That's why it did not pay off its budget and has a limited rental. Perhaps such films are for the soul, not for the public, to sink into oblivion fast.
Music is almost never-ending blues (You Belong To Me) with small additions of jazz. Here you can find Billie Holiday and Jo Stafford and not a single life-affirming note.
This is a story about two women with an ultra-orientation, so one of them – more experienced and worldly-wise – takes young and emotionally immature woman from her husband, destroying her family with fleeting fad. Animal instinct, seasoned with wine and sleepy music, most of which is written in 1952. Everything you need to know about this film – that it is not Star Wars, which will be released 18th of December – all rush to the premiere!
