Perfect Day Lyrics – Jennifer Waris and Tiffany Giardina

Soundtrack Album: Barbie Princess & The Popstar
Perfect Day Text
When I was young
I played for fun
Made up the words
Nobody heard
But now I see
All eyes on me
And suddenly
I'm in a dream

I got a feeling now
Everything's right somehow

Here I am
Being who I want
Giving what I got
Never a doubt now
Here I go
Burning like a spark
Light up the dark again

I'm stepping up
Right to the top
That's how I'm wired
I take it higher
I'm in control
I broke the mould
The girl you see
Is up to me

I'm lifting off the ground
Finding the perfect sound

Here I am
Being who I want
Giving what I got
Never a doubt now
Here I go
Burning like a spark
Light up the dark again
Again
Again
Again
Again and again and again

There's a star that's right inside you
So come on and let it out
Find out what you're about and just shout
"Here I Am"

Being who I want
Giving what I got
Never a doubt now
Here I go
Burning like a spark
Light up the dark again

Here I am
Being who I want
Giving what I got
Never a doubt now
Here I go
Burning like a spark
Light up the dark again

Here I am
Being who I want
Giving what I got
Never a doubt now
Here I go
Burning like a spark
Light up the dark again
Again
Again
Again
Again and again and again
Again
Again
Again
Again and again and again and again

Performance of 'Perfect Day' by Barbie in the music video.
"Perfect Day" captures the exhilarating freedom of living in the moment, expressed through Tori and Keira's lighthearted and spirited verses. The track is a cover of Hoku’s original, with added flair to match the characters' vibrant personalities in *The Princess & The Popstar*. From waking up late to cruising with friends, the lyrics celebrate simple pleasures that create a sense of blissful independence.

Historical Inspiration

The original song by Hoku was a carefree anthem popular in the early 2000s, embodying youthful joy. Barbie's adaptation carries forward this essence while tailoring it to a younger audience through its musical arrangement and animated storytelling.

Key Imagery and Metaphors

The song’s vivid imagery, like "Make breakfast for myself, leave the work for someone else," illustrates a rare escape from responsibility, while metaphors like "I'm in the race but I've already won" signify enjoying life's journey rather than chasing perfection. The recurring phrase "Don't you try to rain on my perfect day" reinforces the resilience against negativity and challenges.
