Shallow Lyrics – Lady Gaga, Bradley Cooper

A killer ballad with an addictive backdrop, "Shallow" by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, which is part of the soundtrack for A Star Is Born, tells a story of the deepest yearning of the people, the desire for something more than what meets the eye and a longing for a truer, more real connection. Encased in the first two lines of Bradley Cooper's opening verse are these very rhetorical questions indicative of the universal feel, in search of answers to the question, "Is this real life?"; it points the answering line Lady Gaga brings to the mere emptiness of keeping up appearances. It shares the same thing: It's all about vulnerability and authenticity. This is when the chorus, full of the sheer force and power of the voice of Lady Gaga, says it speaks about taking chances, diving into the unknown, and what freedom there is with every "shallow" surface broken. The metaphor of diving off the deep end and breaking the surface really captures the leap of faith into real, raw experiences away from superficiality. Now this exchange culminated into a powerful chorus that creates its message resonating with the human condition—pushing barriers and taking embrace into the depth of life and relationships. "Shallow" touched the string of the heart of people all around the globe, encapsulating the very soul of what the story was meant to tell: love, dreams, and the harshness of life and fame. Awards and recognition paraded to this song, which so well marked a moment being lived in the history of this musical.
