Dreams Lyrics – The Cranberries

"Dreams" by The Cranberries is a poignant reflection on the transformative power of love and its impact on one’s life and asspirations. The song narates the journey of self-discovery and change, instigated by the experience of profound love. The opening lines, “Oh, my life / Is changing every day / In every possible way,” set the tone for a narrative of transformation. This change is attributed to a significant other, whose influence is profond and all-encompassing. The recurring mention of dreams in the song symbolizes the hopes and aspirations that define one's innermost desires. The acknowledgment that these dreams are “never quite as it seems” suggests the elusive and often surprising nature of life’s journey, where reality can surpass even our most vivid imaginations. The emotional depth of the song is further explored through the lines, “I know I’ve felt like this before / But now I’m feeling it even more / Because it came from you.” This indicates a recognition of past experiences of love or desire, but with an understanding that this current experience is more intense and meaningful, possibly because it’s more genuine or profound. The chorus, “I want more / Impossible to ignore,” conveys a longing for the continuation and deepening of this transformative experience. The singer’s vulnerability is evident in the plea, “You have my heart so don’t hurt me,” highlighting the risk involved in opening oneself up to love. Throughout the song, there's a sense of awe and gratitude for finding someone who is “a totally amazing mind / So understanding and so kind,” suggesting that this love is not just passionate but also founded on mutual respect and emotional connection. In summary, “Dreams” by The Cranberries celebrates the beauty and transformation brought about by deep, genuine love. It reflects the profound impact such emotional connections can have on our perceptions, aspirations, and entire being.
