Annotations and Meaning:

"I Won't Give Up" is a nice ballad by Jason Mraz, really telling of determination, persistence, and the power of the long-lasting love in both explicit and passive ways. In fact, with the song, the reflection is on deep commitment to a relationship even through rough and tough times. Mraz uses celestial imagery to express how vast and everlasting love is. He goes on to compare how beautiful the night sky is, saying that love is just as beautiful and from there, goes on to draw symbolism from the timelessness of stars, drawing on the fact that it stands for timelessness. Lyrics such as: "When I look into your eyes / It's like watching the night sky / Or a beautiful sunrise" mean that it sounded more as if she was actually looking at something grand and lovely. It sets the scope for a song that reflects on the depth and potential a loving relationship can offer. The refrain "Well, I won't give up on us / Even if the skies get rough / I'm giving you all my love / I'm still looking up" just rounds out the song's chorus, giving an impression of honest promises. It illustrates Mraz's commitment to staying in the relationship, keeping his partner, and continuing to work in a better way together. The line "Even if the skies get rough" probably suggests that relations may go through turbulent times, yet the commitment stays affirmative. Throughout the song, Mraz touches on themes of personal growth and learning, suggesting that challenges posed in relationships can teach lessons about valuable love, compromise, and understanding. The line "We've got a lot to learn / God knows we're worth it" really puts out the point of how the relationship is valuable and worthy despite hard times.
