Let It All Go Lyrics – Birdy and Rhodes
Soundtrack Album: Invincible (TV Series)
I've been sleepless at night
'Cause I don't know how I feel
I've been waiting on you
Just to say something real
There's a light on the road
And I think you know
Morning has come
And I have to go
I don't know why, I don't know why
We need to break so hard
I don't know why we break so hard
But if we're strong enough
To let it in
We're strong enough
To let it go
Let it all go, let it all go
Let it all out now
If I look back to the start now
I know, I see everything true
There's still a fire in my heart, my darling
But I'm not burning for you
We started it wrong
And I think you know
We waited too long
Now I have to go
I don't know why, I don't know why
We need to break so hard
I don't know why we break so hard
But if we're strong enough
To let it in
We're strong enough
To let it go
Let it all go, let it all go
Let it all out now
Let it all go, let it all go
Let it all out now
Who says, who says?
Who says, who says?
Who says truth is beauty after all?
And who says love should break us when we fall?
But if we're strong enough
To let it in
We're strong enough
To let it go
Let it all go, let it all go
Let it all out now
Let it all go, let it all go
Let it all out now
We're strong enough
To let it go

Annotations and Meaning:
"Let It All Go," an achingly beautiful ballad by Birdy and Rhodes, tells of the complication of love, loss, and resiliency. The song epitomizes trying to deal with feelings that one never needed anymore, at last letting go as a part of healing, through its very emotional and powerful lyrics. The song begins with the monologue of nights that she couldn't sleep, wondering what was going to happen. The image of the "light on the road" can be rather suggestive of hope and the possibility to move on, even if there's pain from something you have left behind. However, the same light would also mean the ineluctability of departure and the new morning that follows the dark night of that uncertainty. The chorus "I don't know why, I don't know why / We gotta break so hard" epitomizes deep, many times unexplainable emotional hurt as a result of breaking up in a relationship. Hence, it even questions the meaning of the universal struggle to find meaning in suffering by inquiring whether such deep hurt was really necessary. But perhaps the core of the message comes with the chorus of the song: "But if we're strong enough to let it in, we're strong enough to let it go." This powerful sentence really is an assurance that the same power of love deeply gives one the power to let go of the feelings if they don't serve their purpose for us. It emphasizes resilience as a form of emotional intelligence and courage. The lines "Who says truth is beauty after all? And who says love should break us when we fall?" challenge the very notions of truth, as beauty and love, the type that puts us together even when it has broken us when falling down. What they suggest is that truth and love can be awfully complicated and painful, and never does an individual have to fall in love so deep that he gets himself destroyed because it is not returned. As the lyrics go on: "There's still a fire in my heart, my darling," it's evident that this love keeps burning with a flame but doesn't fire for the ones it used to. The change in character noticed here is that it becomes a perspective that brings to light the theme of change and personal evolution through the experience of love and loss.A-Z Lyrics Universe
