One — Harry Nilsson Lyrics
Soundtrack: Lego Batman
One Song Lyrics
One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
Two can be as bad as one
It's the loneliest number since the number one
No is the saddest experience you'll ever know
Yes, it's the saddest experience you'll ever know
Because one is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
One is the loneliest number that you'll ever know
It's just no good anymore since you went away
Now I spend my time just making rhymes of yesterday
Because one is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
One is the loneliest number that you'll ever know
One is the loneliest number
One is the loneliest number
One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
One is the loneliest number, much, much worse than two
One is the number divided by two
One
One is the loneliest number

Probably, Harry Nilsson is not known to the recent generations that were born after 1990. This particular song on the verge of a mixture of soothing pop and classic music with violins and the musical triangles blast our perception of what popular British music can be. The song is about loneliness telling that one is the most lonely number (continuing with the idea that ‘1’ is the ‘2’ divided at two). It feels like he is singing about separation with his partner. But from the way how he does it, it becomes obvious that he doesn’t regret (anymore) of this separation as only the sad melancholy is heard.
