I Thought U Were The One For Me Lyrics – Joey B. Ellis

I Thought U Were The One For Me Text

---

Girl, I gave you all my love
You were the only one that I was thinkin' of
I was in your corner when push came to shove
We gave a new meaning to this thing called love
Friends all said you wasn't right for me
I just told them to let me be
I was blind but now I can see
I thought you were the one for me

I thought you were the one for me, I thought you were the one for me
I thought you were the one for me, I thought you were the one

It was love at first sight in a downtown disco
As we danced to the moderate tempo
You said hi, I said hello sister
I pulled your hand to my mouth and I kissed ya
We got on the floor, we were electric-slidin'
I was lookin' through the light at you but you kept hidin'
Light was dim and I was open to have ya
I tripped to the line on purpose and I grabbed ya
One thing led to another like clockwork
Six months in love and then I got jerked
'Cause then you started acting suspicious
Comin' home late at night and I wished these
Thoughts of you were for real much earlier
You had my man callin' your house to nerve ya
I thought you and me could be but you can plainly see you're not the one for me

I thought you were the one for me, I thought you were the one for me
I thought you were the one for me, I thought you were the one

Ooh girl, you know I love you
Very much, I cannot deny (I can't deny)
But the way you've been treatin' me
You know it just wasn't right, just wasn't right
And you can't have another try
I'm not trying to play hardball, baby
But I gotta stand my ground (Gotta stand my ground)
'Cause ain't no way, no girl of mine
Will run around town, run around town
With every guy in sight
I just can't live my life without ????? yeah
I'm not perfect and I've made some mistakes
When I thought that you were the one, I
Thought you were the one for me, yeah

I thought you were the one for me, I thought you were the one for me
I thought you were the one for me, I thought you were the one for me, yeah
I thought you were the one for me, I thought you were the one for me
I thought you were the one for me, I thought you were the one

Girl, I gave you everything you needed and more
I rubbed your feet when you came home tired and sore
I gave you everything that a man can give
A bank account, a big car, and a place to live
You're treating me like a wet food stamp, baby
No more steak, now it's rice and gravy
My name is not Monopoly, girl, you can't play me
You might be the one but ya ain't the one for me

I thought you were the one for me, I thought you were the one for me
I thought you were the one for me, I thought you were the one

Bringin' love is not easy
And it brings me so much pain (So much pain)
You're tryin' to play me for a fool
But baby, sucker ain't my name
Girl, I gave you all my love
You were the only one that I was thinkin' of
I was in your corner when push came to shove
We gave a new meaning to this thing called love
Friends all said you wasn't right for me
I just told them to let me be
I was blind but now I can see
I thought you were the one for me

I thought you were the one for me, I thought you were the one for me
I thought you were the one for me, I thought you were the one for me, yeah
I thought you were the one for me, I thought you were the one for me
I thought you were the one for me, I thought you were the one

I thought you were the one for me, I thought you were the one for me
I thought you were the one for me, I thought you were the one for me, yeah...
