Why Don't They Leave Us Alone? Lyrics – The Life Cast

Why Don't They Leave Us Alone? Text

---

Jo-Jo, Pimps:
It's hard to run a bus'ness with those crummy cops.
'cause ev'ry time they come around the bus'ness stops.
There's nothing they like better than to bust our chops
Why don't they leave us bus'ness men alone?
Why don't they leave us bus'ness men alone?

The paddy wagon's jumpin' but the street is dead
and once again we're operatin' in the red
So how are we supposed to meet our overhead?
Why don't they leave us bus'ness men alone?
Why don't they leave us bus'ness men alone?
Why don't they leave us alone?

Yes, our profession goes into recession as soon as the cops arrive
Man, you know it's hard to make a sale when they throw your merchandise in jail.

The cops are gettin' off by gettin' on our case.
They're down our necks or on our backs or in our face
What happened to the freedom of the marketplace?
Why don't they leave us bus'ness men alone?
Why don't they leave us bus'ness men alone?
Why don't they leave us alone?

Chi-Chi:
They hassle and they hound us ev'ry lousy place
They're always gettin' off by gettin' on our case
What happened to the freedom of the market place?
Chi-Chi & Tracy:
Why don't they leave us working girls alone?
All Hookers:
Why don't they leave us working girls alone?

Chi-Chi, Tracy, April:
We're tired of gettin' busted by those men in blue
We're only out there doin' what we gotta do
How come they never bust the guys we do it to
Chi-Chi, Tracy, April, Carmen:
Why don't they leave us working girls alone?
All Hookers:
Why don't they leave us working girls alone?
Why don't they leave us alone?

The police police us, the judges release us,
We keep comin' back again.
There'll be whores as long as there are johns
and there'll be johns as long as there are men.

The cops are always there no matter where we're at.
They trail us and they tail us and they nail us flat.
And then they want a freebie after all of that
Why don't they leave us working girls alone?
Why don't they leave us working girls alone?
Pimps & Hookers:
Why don't they leave us alone?

This game of cops and hookers it ain't nothin' new.
But nowadays they sure got better things to do
They even might have time to solve a crime or two
Hookers:
If they would leave us working girls alone

Pimps: Why don't they leave us bus'nesss men alone?
Hookers: Why don't they leave us working girls alone?
Pimps: Why don't they
Hookers: Why don't they
Pimps: Why don't they
Hookers: Why don't they
All: Why don't they leave us alone?
