I Was Born to Blow this Horn Lyrics – Performed by Michael Leon-Wooley as Louis

I Was Born to Blow this Horn Text

---

Spoken: Ladies and gentlemen, have I got a story for you! Now, listen—I wasn’t always this big!

When I was a little gator
I dreamed I’d get the chance
To blow my horn in New Orleans
And make the people dance
I practiced playin’ night and day
To make this trumpet sing
All the cats in the bayou know
I can play this thing!
Well, I was born, I was born to blow this horn
When I was born that early morn
My mama said blow your horn
I’m a star, they all come from near and far
Late at night to early morn
I was born to blow this horn
When I’m on the bandstand
I play with heart and soul
I wanna fill the world with rhythm
And let the good times roll!
I play for people walkin’ by
I play for kings and queens
Come and hear me wail all night
When you’re down in New Orleans
Well, I was born, I was born to blow this horn
When I was born that early morn
Mama said blow your horn, son!
I’m a star, they all come from near and far
Late at night to early morn
I was born to blow this horn

Spoken: Yeah! Here I go! I sound good, don’t I? WHOO! Haha!

I was born, I was born to blow this horn
When I was born that early morn
Mama said blow your horn
I’m a star, they all come from near and far
Late at night to early morn
I was born to blow this horn
*scat*
