Annotations and Meaning:

"Grow" by FaceSoul is one of those genuine personal thematic songs that delve into themes of life: growth, resilience, and hope even when facing great adversity. The lyrics in the song are inspirational; they offer one a reminder of the strength and perseverance to overcome and progress in life. The first verse, "Do not be scared, / After the darkness comes light," symbolizes the inspirational mood for the listener to be positive, even if going through the gloomy stage. It is apparent from this line that his challenges are neither constant nor mightier than his life ahead. So, here comes the word "constant" in motivational lyrics. The repetition of "not to be afraid" seems to over-stress the very thing that one is required to rise above, which is the fear that keeps most people from doing what they have always wanted. The chorus is a simple yet powerful repetition of the word "grow," almost acting like a command and a mantra to the self: the song's message is within the personal drive towards betterment and development. The selection of lyrics speaks to the effort that must be placed into evolving progress and development of the self. In the second verse, he reflects on that lonely journey: "Even if you're on your own, even if you can't find your way." This time, calling out the lonesome road that is perennially synonymous with the heavy load that is reinvention. On the other side, its lyrics have given solace and, at the same time, reassurance. It gives an impression that through the worst times, love and faith can guide one: "Believe in I to death / And I know that you will grow day by day." The outro, "You'll grow past the shortcoming / Slowly and surely," gives a very consolatory conclusion by assuring the listener that growth will be slow but continued and assured if one is persistent.
