It Was Only A Dream Lyrics – Thee Sinseers

"It Was Only A Drem" by Thee Sinseers delves into the ephemeral and often elusive nature of love and dreams. The lyrics transport the listener into a narrative of a dream-like love, fleeting and intangible. The opening verse, "I had a dream she took my hand / Led me to a wonderland," sets the stage for a romantic escapade that exists only in the dream realm. This wonderkand symbolizes an idealized state of love, unattainable in reality. The line, "Love was all that we had," implies a pure, undiluted form of love found only in dreams, untouched by real-world complexities. The chorus, "Oh she loved me / But love was all in the timing of our tides," speaks to the transient nature of this love. It suggests that love, like tides, is subject to timing and circumstances beyond control. The phrase "We'll never understand" underlines the mysterious and inexplicable aspects of love and dreams, acknowledging that some things are beyond human comprehension. In the second verse, "We'll swing from song of love / To the bad moon above," the imagery of swinging between a love song and a bad moon represents the oscillation between joy and sorrow in love. The notion that "our love will never stray" despite changing seasons points to the steadfastness of this dream love, unaltered by external changes. The chorus repetition, "It was only a dream," serves as a poignant reminder of the dream’s intangibility. It underscores the pain and realization that this idealized love, though deeply felt, was never a reality. The song, therefore, explores the concept of a love so perfect and pure that it can only exist in a dream, highlighting the bittersweet intersection of love, dreams, and reality.
