Annotations and Meaning:

"Oh baby please come home and lets get out / I wanna take you on the streets dancing" – This part sets a scene of reunion and celebration in calling a loved one to come forth in the scene and recapture the old joys and rejuvenated excitement by dancing in the streets, reminiscent of the untroubled youthful days. "It goes way back to the schoolyard / When we first tried our hands at romancing": This is reminiscent of that nostalgic reflection on this side of a relationship that had first begun in youth, as if pointing to some foreboding about to be said about a time when connection had somehow developed, yet not lost its original spark. "You match the rhythm of my own heartbeat" – This metaphorical construction places emphasis on a very deep, organic connection between partners: the relationship is instinctive and necessary, comparable to the metaphor of the beating heart. "I wanna Boom Boom till my shoes come off" – the expression of "Boom Boom" is evidently in this case the sound of music or energetic dance. Used all through the lyrics, it brings a constant call to stay committed to life, celebrating it and living it to its very best being wild and filled with uninhibited joy. "Oh, darling, I ain't messin', that rhythm, yeah, good for your soul / We gotta use it, before we lose it" - Calls to the power of healing and elevation that lies within the forms of music and dancing. Urging to take the most of what one has before it's too late. "Let me see you shake it like you money make it / Music grabs a hold it leaves you warm instead of cold." - This playful and lovely invitation encourages and incites the listener to lose himself in the music, deliriously hinting that it can possibly change and vivify the spirit. "Boom Boom" by Shotgun Soul is a powered-up anthem to the bright, fired-up world of music, dancing, and love. It gives a picture of what being alive and in love feels like, topped with its vivid imagery and rolling, kinetic rhythms. It's an anthem to the faithful in the power of music to rise and energize, calling to unloose to full measure with all the fervor that can be dredged up.
