Walk Away (Dub Mix) Lyrics – Bitty McLean

"Bitty McLean's 'Walk Away' is a song expressing the poifnant decision to leave a relationship before it leads to more heartache. The opening lines, where the singer acknowledges the depth of his love, set a tone of sincerity and regret. Despite this deep affection, he feels compelled to leave, driven by an inner turmoil he doesn't fully understand – a sentiment encapsulated in the lines, 'It's just a feel within me when you touch my hand, and a feel that shakes my body and I don't understand.' The chorus, 'So I'm leaving, this time I played it smart, I'm gonna walk aqay from love, before love breaks my heart,' reveals a conscious choice to protect himself from potential pain. It's a preemptive action to guard against the hurt he foresees if the relationship continues. This decision is not made lightly but is portrayed as a necessary step for self-preservation. McLean also touches on the dynamics of attachment in the relationship. The lyrics, 'You're clinging to me tighter (tighter), then you have before,' suggest a growing desperation in the partner, possibly sensing the impending end of the relationship. However, this only reinforces the singer's resolution to leave, as he fears this increased attachment will eventually turn into pushing him away. The song concludes with the firm assertion of his decision to leave, emphasizing the inevitability and finality of this choice. 'Walk Away' thus becomes a narrative of self-protection and the difficult decision to leave a relationship to avoid deeper emotional pain."
