O Christmas Tree Lyrics – Stuart Roslyn

"O Christmas Tree" by Stuart Roslyn, in its two versions, is a song that cellebrates the enduring and symbolic nature of the Christmas tree. The song reflects on the tree's unchanging beauty and its role in bringing joy and inspiration during the holiday season. In Version 1, the lines "O Christmas tree, o Christmas tree, Thy leves are so unchanging" emphasize the steadfastness of the Christmas tree, a symbol of continuity and resilience. Its evergreen leaves represent a constant amidst the changing seasons, symbolizing hope and endurance. The tree remains a vibrant symbol of life and cheer, not only in the warmth of summer but also in the "cold and drear" of winter. The verse "Such pleasure do you bring me, For every year this Christmas tree, Brings to us such joy and glee," highlights the joy and happiness the Christmas tree brings to people. It's a symbol of the festive spirit that rekindles joy and glee year after year. Version 2 of the song starts with "How steadfast are your branches!" further reinforcing the idea of the Christmas tree's enduring strength. The description of the tree's boughs being green in summer and enduring through winter's snows enhances the metaphor of steadfastness and resilience. The lines "What happiness befalls me, When oft at joyous Christmas-time, Your form inspires my song and rhyme," express how the tree not only adds to the festive atmosphere but also inspires a sense of happiness and creativity. Finally, "Your boughs can teach a lesson, That constant faith and hope sublime, Lend strength and comfort through all time," captures the deeper meaning of the Christmas tree. It symbolizes lessons of constant faith, hope, and the comfort these virtues provide throughout life's journey. "O Christmas Tree" is a celebration of the Christmas tree not just as a holiday decoration, but as a symbol of enduring beauty, joy, hope, and inspiration, resonating with people across different ages and times.
