Hollandaise Lyrics – Ab-Soul

Soundtrack Album: White Men Can't Jump
Hollandaise Text
[Intro]
Wait a minute
Same song, new dance
Same song, new dance, ho
Ho (Wait a minute)
Same song, new dance (Ayy)
Same song, new dance, ho (Man, look, wait a minute)

[Verse 1]
Get up off my dick, let me talk my sh*t
Let me show 'em how I feel, for real (Real)
These niggas ain't ill, they ain't got no skill
They ain't got no will, for real (Uh-uh)
I was ten-and-two on Central
Tryna make my dream come true (I was)
Youngin from Del Amo tryna let y'all know just what we go through (Uh-huh)
I was back-to-back at the bastard shack for a pack of Blacks
Tank wasn't on "F", as a matter of fact, it was half of half of that (That's fact)
Stopped going to church like, "What it's all worth?"
What would Jesus do if Hе was in these shoes?
If Johnny pull up, I'm f**kеd, I'm drunk
Had Rossi in the trunk, I was off that Jesus juice
Had the passion of Christ, I ain't need a Jesus piece (Uh-uh)
Just needed the people to believe in me (Yeah)
I ain't need a AP to put my city on the M-A-P (Nah)
Was a fade away from banging the ECC
The OG told me, "Stick to slinging them A-B-Cs" (Yeah)

Chorus]
On the block, they done lucked up
Locked in, I ain't give a f**k
Got it in while the getting was good (Same song, new dance)
Ooh (Same song, new dance, ho, yeah)
On the block, they done lucked up
Locked in, I ain't give a f**k
Got it in while the getting was good (Same song, new dance)
Ooh (Same song, new dance, ho)

[Verse 2]
Get up off your ass, go and get some cash
Show 'em you mean business (Yeah)
Go above and beyond, evolve, these niggas so primitive
Left the murder scene, ain't leave no witnesses (Uh)
My name must be "Abraham Lincoln," b**ch, I'm innocent (Yeah, yeah)
Uh, life's too short, you should be gettin' it, uh (Yeah)
While the getting is good, if you knew better, you would (Uh)
Gotta go hard in the paint
Gotta night-ride when they call it a day
All work, no play, crank up the ball and the chain
Dropped off on all you lames, y'all all in my way
Ayy, they been afflicted by this, off top
On top of the injured list, sit 'em in intensives (Yeah)
We knock 'em out like mama say, raisin' all of the stakes (Uh)
To win this sh*t, I, I been addicted, I need hollandaise (Yeah)
[Chorus]
On the block, they done lucked up
Locked in, I ain't give a f**k
Got it in while the getting was good (Same song, new dance)
Ooh (Same song, new dance, ho)
On the block, they done lucked up
Locked in, I ain't give a f**k
Got it in while the getting was good (Same song, new dance)
Ooh (Same song, new dance, ho)

[Outro]
Yeah, ho (Wait a minute)
Same song, new dance, same song, new dance, ho
Ho (Wait a minute)
Same song, new dance, same song, new dance, ho

[Verse]
Hold up, I already told ya that I was conceived
In Korea by Herbert the Third and Lacresha
It's no coincidence that I would grow up and blow up
You know that the flow is nuclear
Since the moment of birth, I was chosen
My soul had a glow that was blinding them all
The gold in the dirt, the light in the dark
The gift and the curse, the right is the wrong
See 'fore I knew I would carry the cross
Me and Dion had our clothes in reverse
Memorizing Kris Kross songs and performing them
That was the origin
Couldn't come up with a stage name so he gave me his
Snap G, word to Tricky T
Later I teamed up with Capital 3, El Capitan, and Capital C
Might've sold you a white tee down at Magic Disk
That's where I was raised
Had a crib in it, b**ch, I lived in it
'Fore we burned 'em all, compact discs
G-pops had me stuffing mixtapes
Tryna hit a lick, almost did a bid
Steak on a plate, know I gotta eat
Grandma made a name this big
Then it was Black Planet freestyle chat on a compact tryna get it
AOL free trials on dial-up, millennials won't get it
Battle mongers, grim reapers, A5 stay live, I'll never forget it
Metasota had me on AIM, teaching me how to flip it
Still got a cousin in Compton that was making beats
Creating waves with the sound
I took it as a sign, got my book of rhymes
Grabbed the mic and never put it down
Soon as he hit record, I transformed
I was now a god in man form
I was no longer me, but much more
Close my eyes and I swear to God
I see fans in the stands demand an encore
Standing up with they hands up
Henceforth, I stole the show, yo
The moment I open my eyes, I committed
Pun intended, I was sold
Wait for it, Soul!
[Outro]
My nigga Herb O'Riley, haha!

Soundtrack Lyrics for Movie, 2023

Track Listing

May, 21st 2024
  • Genre: Hip-Hop/Rap
  • Lyricist: Ab-Soul
  • Composers: Ab-Soul

Artist Information:

Actually, Ab-Soul is the real stage name of this hip-hop musician, a TDE member from Carson, California. He is peculiarly popular for his intricacy of lyricism and themes. He belongs to the Top Dawg Entertainment (T.D.E.) record label, with other remarkable comrades like Kendrick Lamar and Schoolboy Q. In his songs, Ab-Soul narrates most of his experiences, mostly filling hard-core reflections on existentialism and other issues that concern him about life. He began his work at the dawn of the new millennium and came into much renown with his whole albums, which include "Control System" and "These Days.". The star has always had his way with the rap world since he came into the scene with this blend of both personal reflection and challenging content. What is simultaneously odd and exciting, however, is that he is essentially a very unique figure in contemporary hip-hop, considering that he has elicited adoration from fans and critics for his lyrical prowess and artisanal, complex storytelling abilities.

Annotations and Meaning:

The tune starts with an exciting beginning that emphasizes a fresh take on familiar themes. He opens by remarking, "Same song, new dance," possibly referring to the freshness infused into the repeated challenges.
"Get up off my dick, let me talk my sh*t"
The first readings of the verse show a rapper asserting himself with claims to space to work with freedom. He lambasts other rappers for being unreal and incompetent. Ab-Soul is just reflecting on his path from Del Amo right here to chasing the dream. The fact that he's claiming to be the Jesus juice and still asking what Jesus would do in his scenario brings out the dilemma he has to go through and what he has has to do to live a holy life amongst such adversities.
"On the block, they done lucked up, Locked in, I ain't give a f**k"
The chorus reflects a very defiant and powerful statement: the artist is under a challenge, but at the same time, he reflects focus and resilience. The line "Same song, new dance" repeats to suggest revisions and adaptations.
"Get up off your ass, go and get some cash"
The second verse is a continuation of this second theme of fortitude through the voice of Ab-Soul. He exhorts a better outcome from hard work and seizing opportunities. He speaks of Abraham Lincoln as a reference to innocence and perhaps integrity. Also, the line "I need hollandaise" is metaphorically used to suggest a craving for success and luxury. In this last verse, Ab-Soul gives a bit more of a story about himself, addressing his origins, the influence of family and friends, and his very first experience in music. The phrase "Kris Kross songs" and "AOL free trials" evokes nostalgia and the formative years of his career. He indicates transformation during his performances at shows, probably marking his development into a more powerful artist.
