Annotations and Meaning:

"Pedalzera" by Fred Benuc, featured in "A Infância de Romeu e Julieta" soundtrack, is a high-energy song that captures the essence of a mischievous and dominant group of kids who call themselves "Pedalzera". The repeated chant-like delivery of the word "Pedalzera!" throughout the song emphasizes their strong presence and identity within their community. The lyrics describe the group as a force to be reckoned with: "Essa turma é braba / Quando eles aparecem / O sossego acaba". This paints a picture of a lively, perhaps unruly, group whose arrival disrupts the calm, signifying their impact and the control they exert over their surroundings. The song also highlights the territorial nature of the group, asserting their dominance over space with lines like "Eles se acham os donos do pedaço" and "Onde tem um adesivo pedalzera colado / Eles só deixam brincar, quem está autorizado". This suggests a playground hierarchy where the Pedalzera group dictates who can play and where, establishing a kind of exclusivity and authority among the children. Interestingly, the song introduces a sense of challenge and confrontation through the rhetorical question, "Quem aqui vai ter coragem de se opor?", underscoring the group's intimidation factor and the fear they inspire in others. This is further emphasized with "Se na criançada eles tocam o terror", suggesting their influence and perhaps notoriety among peers. The mention of characters like "Muke", "Chilique", "Fê Dengosa", and "Dimitri, o crânio", adds personality and depth to the group, indicating that each member brings their unique traits and skills to the collective identity of Pedalzera.
